About Us

Fr. Michael Jones is the Parish Priest and arrived in September 2004. Sunday Masses are at 8.30 a.m., 10.30 a.m. (Family Mass) and 5.30 p.m. There is no Vigil Mass on a Saturday. During the week Mass is celebrated at 9.00 a.m. and on Saturday at 10.00 a.m. Confessions are at 10.30 a.m. on Saturdays. Occasionally we have a Service of the Word with Holy Communion on weekdays and the time of weekday Mass may change if there is a funeral. Masses on Holy Days of Obligation are at 9.00 a.m. at 8.00 p.m. To arrange baptisms, marriages etc. please contact Fr Michael directly.

Everyone is welcome to visit our church. It is open every morning from 8.00 a.m. to about 10.30 a.m. For security reasons the Church is kept locked at other times but there is often someone around to let you in for prayer and quiet. Everyone is welcome to attend Mass. If you are a newcomer we hope you will feel welcome. Please make yourself known to Fr Michael or one of the parishioners. There is usually someone in the porch looking after the repository (little shop selling rosaries, cards and devotional items etc.). If you are a new parishioner perhaps you would like Fr Michael to visit you - perhaps to bless your house. Please also fill in a Census Form. There is usually music at the 10.30 a.m. Mass on Sundays but not at the other Masses - we would welcome new musicians! After 10.30 a.m. there are refreshments in the Parish Hall. We are not a closed-in parish but always welcome new members and new helpers.

Churches Together in Bexleyheath

We value our friendship with the other Christians of Bexleyheath and are full members of the newly constituted Churches Together in Bexleyheath. The Christian leaders meet every month for prayer and friendship in Grace Avenue and there are united services from time to time. Fr Michael and Sheila Butler are our parish representatives. The churches belonging to CTiB are: Christchurch, St Peter's (Pickford Lane), St Martin's (Barnehurst), St John Vianney, Bexleyheath Methodist Church, Trinity Baptist Church, The Salvation Army, New Life Church (Rowan Road), Bexleyheath Community Church and the United Reformed Church (Geddes Place). (CTiB website being put together).

Twinning

The Borough of Bexley is twinned with Neheim/Arnsberg near Dortmund in Germany. Every two years we welcome our friends from Germany and then we visit them in the intervening year. The numbers coming to our parish have dwindled over the years, but in 2005 we welcomed Fr Heinrich Oest who is the new Parish Priest and in charge of three parishes: St Michael, St Elisabeth and St Francis.
